Hosting is a very strong business, you can generate hundreds and thousands of dollars easily. The reason i said that is because i my self have owned my own hosting company that i started from scratch and made around $900 each month in profit. It took me to reach my $900 goal in about 3-4 weeks from the ground up. The reason I don’t have my own hosting company anymore is because i wanted to try other things out there as well, so i have sold it.
Now what i can tell you the only way to get serious about starting your own hosting company is to buy your own server for with your own money. You can google “buy servers” or go to dell.com, i have seen dell sell servers also. So if you buy your own server with your own money you will deffinetly make money now because you would want to get your money back so you will try 10 times harder to do so since it was your money that you worked hard for and don’t just want to lose it on a server and get nothing out of it.
After that you set up your server it is time to set up your website to get clients through. If you have the skill to create your own website you may save your self some money and do it yourself. If you can’t you can hire some one to do it for you for a reasonable price not more then you paid for your server. Make sure before hiring a programmer to ask him lots of questions like, how long will it take to finish, will you create the images for the site?, ask him/her to show you their portfolio of their past work they have done. Be sure they have a reputaion and good reviews if they don’t find someone that does.
Now you have your own server and website ready to go. But wait, you have to fill in information about your company fill in the pages make sure you have some kind of support like telephone, email, live chat, or a forum set up. Then the part which costumers will decide if they want to chose you as a hosting or someone else. The other biggest problem why hosting fails is because the hosting plans the hosting sites have are horrible or does not fit the costumers requirements. Take your time to think out what plans your hosting company will give out to costumers.
The more hosting plans you will have to fit your costumers need the more chance are they will chose you as their hosting choice. Do not over price your hosting plans over greed because in return you will not get a single dime. One dollar over priced and you can lose a very good potentialed costumer for years to come. Also if you over price people and websites will not recommend you or even talk about you. They might even put you in bucket and give bad reviews just for over pricing. So do your research carefully compare to other hosting companies and see what they don’t have what you can give.
Now onto promoting your website here are a few options that you can do. You can use ppc service’s like Adwords, Yahoo and others but if you want costumers i would use those to. You can perform search engine optimization on your website to rank higher in google so your potentiol clients will find you. Now remember if people talk good about you in forums etc.. you will get ranked higher in search engines. If people talk bad you might either get ranked higher or lower as well but you will not get costumers.
Promoting you website offline, tell your friends, you can hand out flyers, word of mouth, if you have a car use that as advertising, find a busy high way and you can buy advertising space from billboards or what they are called not sure. Advertise your hosting in forum signutares or other website’s related to the same subject. A very good method that works is writting articles and submitting them to popular article directories like ezine and leave a link at the bottom saying something like this “get affordable priced hosting here http://*******yoursitename****.com/. This method really works. One more bonus get costumers through ebay.
Now you just wait, no im sorry you don’t wait, you will work hard and yes very hard promoting your website. This is not easy money so keep that in mind. All a hosting company needs is just a big push and then and only then it will run itself in the future. So anyways what i really wanted to say is good luck to all of you out there who is going to start a hosting business. Just remember do not give and keep in “mind” that it is not easy work. Also be sure to post below if you have anymore questions that you need answer, and i will reply if i can. Be sure to Share you success stories. Good Luck
